INFP

Strengths and Weaknesses of INFP (Mediator)

Strengths

Deep empathy

INFPs read the emotions of others almost on a physical level. They notice that a colleague is upset before the colleague realizes it themselves. This ability makes them invaluable in situations requiring delicacy.

Creative thinking

Fi-Ne creates a unique combination: deep feelings pass through the filter of imagination and turn into metaphors, images and unconventional solutions. INFPs don't think in templates.

Loyalty to principles

Once an INFP has established their values, they won't back down. Authority pressure, majority opinion, financial incentives: nothing will make a Mediator betray what they believe in.

Deep concentration

When a task aligns with internal values, an INFP can immerse themselves in it for hours, forgetting food and time. This flow state is their superpower.

Seeing potential

Where others see a troubled teenager, an INFP notices a frightened child. Mediators believe in people and often help them unlock their best qualities.

Weaknesses

Procrastination

Inferior Te makes INFPs vulnerable to deadlines and structure. Starting a project is easy, finishing it: agonizing. Especially if the project stopped 'resonating' along the way.

Excessive self-criticism

The INFP's inner critic works nonstop. A Mediator might spend hours analyzing a phrase said a week ago, convincing themselves they offended someone.

Conflict avoidance

INFPs hate quarrels. Sometimes this leads to suppressing problems: instead of a direct conversation, the Mediator will bottling up tension until it explodes.

Unrealistic expectations

INFP idealism is a double-edged sword. They paint a utopian picture of relationships, work or friendship, and reality inevitably disappoints.

Decision paralysis

INFPs see too many options simultaneously. Every choice means giving up something else, and the Mediator can freeze in analysis paralysis.

Tip for INFPs: set up an external accountability system (timer, planner, accountability partner). Your weak Te needs external support. Don't be ashamed: it's not weakness, it's self-awareness.
